So it’s been a while since I posted anything on hear but here’s an update on how things have been going.

I started working at the Royal Spa Centre & Town Hall back in April last year as Technical Supervisor. It was mid-season for the theatre so I was thrown in at the deep end and started working on shows from day 1. Most of my work is done at the Royal Spa Centre which is a receiving house and has a wide variety of shows coming through. From stand up comedy to bands, plays to lectures there is always some new challenge to overcome. The tech team is now up to five of us and I deputise for the Technical Manager, with three theatre technicians underneath me. We have bonded well as a team and each have our strong areas, as well as covering all the other roles required.

As well as the one night shows I got to design the lighting for Spa Opera’s production of Carousel, as well as the professional pantomime that we produced (with Imagine Theatre) with Aladdin. Panto was long, with two shows daily, but lots of fun. We’re about to head into my third season here and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I will try and get some photos of the recent shows up here in due course.
